We're heading to Hawaii next week as guests of the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau and we'll be sharing our thoughts (and photos and videos and tweets) with you from the shores of Oahu and Kauai for seven days. I can't wait. I've never been to Hawaii before and Austin has only been for "work." (Buy him a beer and he'll tell you the story about how his government contractor paid for a two week Hawaiian vacation. But please, make sure I'm out of earshot. I've heard that story one too many times.)
We also thought this upcoming trip would be the perfect time to test out our side venture, the Wondermap. It's still not quite ready for human consumption, but we'll find all the bugs while we're on the road so it'll be ready for you to plan and share your next adventure. While we're on our trip, you'll be able to follow along on our Hawaiian journey, so keep an eye here for up to the minute trip details.
Lastly, we need some help. We've only got a few days to test out all those great Hawaiian food carts, see the best views, and check out the sights. So please, test out our "Leave a Suggestion" feature above and let us know your favorite hotspots that we shouldn't miss in Oahu and Kauaii next week. I've added a few of our planned itinerary stops and noshes, but would love your suggestions on where we can find the best shave ice, your favorite snorkeling spot or anything else you remember fondly from your last Hawaiian vacation.
(Also, the map is still in beta. If you find a bug or feature that's not working, please leave us a comment below or drop us a line at feedback@thewondermap.com)

Here are some must-dos for Oahu -- Pearl Harbor Memorial, hike Diamond Head, surf lessons at Waikiki Beach, watch real surfers on North Shore, and go snorkeling in Haunuma Bay! We never went to Kauaii. Have fun!
Thanks Trix! I forgot you guys honeymooned in Hawaii, thanks for sharing your favorites with us.
Kelly, looking forward to your visit. Trixy recommends some good things, but we have a lot more in store for you. See you soon.
We're looking forward to it too and know that you guys have lots of fun in store for us. Can't wait!
Beer reco: try Kona Brewing Co. Pipeline Porter, which combines the best of two delicacies (beer and coffee!).
Speaking of drinking, on Oahu, don't miss Mai Tais at The Royal Hawaiian's Mai Tai Bar in Waikiki and at thirtyninehotel in while you're in Chinatown.
Last tip (for now), don't be on a diet when you visit Hawaii! Too many delicious goodies to pass up.
Check out Nonstop Honolulu, it's a by locals for locals. The contributors are "da kine."
For O'ahu (I live there)
Best shave ice is most definitely at Shimazu on N. School Street--Waiola is probably my second favourite. You should also try Taiwanese-style shave ice at City Cafe.
Also, mochi creams at Shirokiya in the Ala Moana Mall; chees mochi at Shirokiya; acai bowls at Blue Hawaiian Lifestyle; $3 martinis at BambooTwo in Chinatown; Hotel Street at night (esp. Thirtyninehotel and Manifest).....
Are you kidding? Go naked for a couple of hours on Maui's spectacular Little Beach!
Aloha!! My suggestion: head to the Big Island!!
Have tons of fun....
So much great advice, thanks everyone! The quest for the best shave ice is going on the agenda.
