Tahiti has been spoiled for many years, but Bali is one of the few cultures with origins in one of the great ancient cultures which is still alive. -Arthur Erickson

On the Sand:
You can't go wrong on the island of Bali, as paradise meets you at every turn. When the Sun Goes Down:

As with many places in the world, finding an authentic meal is one of the most fun and delicious ways to spend an evening after a long, hard day at the beach. In Bali, this task is no more difficult than leaving the hotel and finding where the locals eat: the night markets. A few lumpia, martabak, or satay will fit the bill if you're in the mood for hand-held food, and if noodles are your thing you'll find no shortage of options. Make sure you try the black rice pudding, or your inner sweet tooth will never forgive you.

When it Rains:

In Bali, there are plenty of religious sites to visit, including some incredible Hindu temples. Some visitors report problems with pesky souvenir vendors at these kind of sites, but offer a clever solution. When you're done with your religious experience, escape to a nearby park where they will leave you alone and you can enjoy some of Bali's natural beauty.
