What are the images that capture a place? This was a question I asked myself when starting RomePhotoBlog in September 2008. How can one throw fresh light on one of the most photographed and captivating cities in the world? And yet, as I began shooting the city — a city that I adopted as my own four years ago — I realized that there was so much to share. Every place has a living and breathing quality to it. Every place contains small details that come together to form a complete and unique whole. Whether it be the people, the food, the colors and lights....all of these things cannot be replicated elsewhere. And while my photographs don't always capture the most famous of monuments (in fact they most often don't), what I hope they capture is the feeling of living here. Some of the most meaningful comments I've gotten are from Romans themselves who have let me know they feel I am representing their home well...and let me tell you, they are a tough crowd! So relax, sit back and enjoy my Rome. For more explanation about any of the images, click into the description for a link back to the appropriate blog post.
Jessica Stewart, originally from Massachusetts, moved to Rome, Italy in 2005 after obtaining an MA in Renaissance Studies. She works in travel and spends her spare time photographing the city for RomePhotoBlog. And no, she does not know when and if she'll be moving back to the US!

Great Photos Jessica! Makes me miss Italy and the little moments of la dolce vita...
