A mobile market in Cuba allows you to pick up your produce from the convenience of a bike. While I'm excited about the possibility of Cuba being open to American tourists, I fear, like Rachel does, that scenes like this one may become a distant memory.

Great photo! Do you think that increasing tourism will be so devastating to their local way of life?
I see this kind of fruit seller often in Turkey. Instead of a bicycle though, they usually have either a hand cart or a small truck.
Hope you're enjoying Italy! Certainly sounds like it from the Twitter updates :)
In my travels, I've noticed that the poorer the country, the more things are transported by bike & human power. Selling veggies by bike (as opposed to truck or market) isn't quaint, it's HARD WORK. Who are we to say that progress that eliminates these 'quaint' elements of a culture should be mourned. Progress is also about bringing a better/easier life to the people. (of course, what is 'better' is up for great debate but save that for another post).
