This question came into our inbox recently:

Like to hear some local information about Mazatlan. We are going there in June. It is supposed to be a great location for deep sea fishing - marlin, tuna, bonita, etc. Would be great to learn who the best local fishing charters are. Thanks, Matt

We haven't been to Mexico, but got some great advice from fellow traveler and Seattlite, Mary Jo Manzanares who blogs at Traveling with MJ.

Take a pulmonaria to Old Mazatlan and grab a drink at La Tertulia (bull fighter bar). It's a couple blocks off the Historic Square and a great place to people watch & have a beer. Afterwards, grab a bite to eat at El Tunel.

We also remembered some of our favorite travel bloggers, Joydrive, hit up Mazatlan on their roadtrip through Central and South America. They went fishing with Jim from the Mazatlan Oceanfront Inn.

Have you been to Mazatlan and have some advice for Matt? Let him know in the comments!

Hello Matt,my name is Francisco, I am a Mazatlan native and I am glad that you are choosing my hometown among other destinations not only in Mexico but around the globe.
Mazatlan is indeed a vacation destination where not only you will enjoy the sea and sun but you will also enjoy the friendliness of the locals.Mazatlan is also known for many good things happening, one of them is for deep sea sport fishing, as a matter of fact,October 2009 Mazatlan was picked to host the World Cup International Championships. There are many options to go fishing, however, I have been recommending King Fish Fleet lately and they have been doing an excellent job,you may find them in the old Marina by the lighthouse zone. For more information you may contact them at: mazreservas@gmail.com
