Gift Guide 2009: Etsy Favorites

etsy gift guide

With the holidays just around the corner, we've started thinking about the dreaded task of buying gifts. For us, we're usually gifting ourselves with trips or asking our loved ones to contribute to the fund, but you want to give something a little more tangible. So, over the next week we'll be sharing some of our favorite gift ideas for the traveler. First stop, our favorite online source for all things handmade, Etsy.

It's no secret that we're big fans of Etsy here, so we turned to some our favorite sellers and discovered some new ones with travel worthy gear.

From tiny hip bags to oversized messenger bags and everything in between, check out maytreeark. (I picked up a Settler's Sack a few weeks ago and won't be flying again without it.) ($29-$93)

Retro leather simplicity. Grab one of these flight bags from acmebags for your favorite frequent flier. ($100-$175)

Because you've got to jot down notes somewhere, we like jetsetpaper customized moleskin notebooks with airport codes so you won't forget where you're going (or where you came from.) ($8.50)

Oversized weekend bags in sumptuous leather fromvalhallabrooklyn make you want to leave your backpack behind. ($299)

We love this fun twist on vintage luggage redesigned by roundtrip. You know this stuff is sturdy, because your mom still has a set of it hiding in her closet. ($40-$65)

We have two rules for luggage tags: bright and sturdy. These map -inspired luggage tags by marmalime satisfy both requirements. ($18)

If you're one of those people always digging in your carry on bag for a pencil, an eyemask or iPod. Sansmap makes pouches from upcycled fabrics for all your odds and ends. ($10-$12)

And I couldn't resist this fun, travel inspired print by matte stephens

Ahhh Kelly you are killing me with all these goodies! Sigh...now we are going to have to return to work so I can get back to shopiing on etsy. Thanks for sharing the treats.

Etsy is dangerous, I have to watch myself when writing these types of posts. I always end up buying something!
