Cool Product: Passport Socks

Ah, the venerable moneybelt. For security while traveling, it's the first thing a guidebook would recommend. But, nothing makes you look more like a paranoid tourist than one of these peeking out above your belt. And, really, who wants to go digging into their pants every time they need to pay for something? They are just not cool. Our motto: a little common sense and a bit of extra caution go a long way. However, our paranoid inner voice saw these Passport Socks ($23.99), and we began to reconsider safety clothing.

So, if you're not quite willing to forgo a secret stash, these socks are a much better alternative. Slide your important docs into your sock, and they are out of sight and considerably less dorky than a money belt. Unless it's summer, and you're in Europe walking around with your socks to your knees. You might want to consider these for cooler weather trips, we don't want you looking like a fool.

On a related note...perhaps you or someone reading has a good solution. What do you use for traveling when you want to keep your credit cards, cash, and passport together in a neat and discrete way? I am not looking for a hidden/security belt (sorry, have to pass on those stylish socks) or something that will make me wear cargo pants all the time to carry.

What I have in mind would be able to carry a few cards (credit, debit, insurance, etc), some cash, and a passport when needed...so I guess the size would be about the size of an American passport.

    Any thoughts or suggestions?

I haven't seen anything that comes to mind, but know such things exist. Something like a passport cover, where you could slip the passport into one side and few cards into the other? I'll do some research and see what I can come up with, anyone else have some ideas?

I hit the mall the other day and managed to find a geoffrey beene leather passport cover. It does all I want and is super slim, about at thin as I can get with my needs. Not exactly what I wanted visually (smooth black leather) but it does function about as good as I could hope.

Wasn't too expensive either. Not too sure if it was a clearance item or what, can't seem to find it online anywhere or at the store's website.

Thanks for looking, if you still find something interesting I'd still like to see what people are using.
